Using the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Fingershield have found that during 2006 - 2008  local authorities have paid out £652,761.82 in claims for finger trapping accidents!

The request for the information was sent to 218 local authorities throughout the UK, to which 172 responded. Once local authority paid out a total of £55,727.00 during 2006 - 2008 for finger trapping claims. The biggest single claim for a finger trapping accident paid out was a whopping £14,083.12!

In total 4,666 finger trapping accidents were recorded.
