Fingershield World Cup Charity Day Scores A Hit

On 1 June 2006, the Fingershield Marketing team hosted their themed fundraising day to raise money for the company charity, the Christie Hospital NHS Trust. With the World Cup fast approaching, the Marketing team chose a World Cup theme, with a programme of events to match!

The Marketing RefereesBy 9am, Fingershield Head Office had been transformed into a World Cup shrine, with bunting and inflatable goal posts to boot!

To kick off, everyone at Fingershield gathered around to sing the National Anthem, with everyone sporting the colours red and white in true England style. The Marketing staff – who acted as Referees for the day - issued fines to anyone who sang out of tune or out of time – so of course much money was raised from the off!

Throughout the day, fines were issued to anybody caught time-wasting, off-side – in other words, anyone caught making themselves a cup of tea without offering the Referees one - and to anyone who asked to use the ‘washroom facilities’, the key to which was guarded by the Referees for the day!

For Half-Time, the Marketing Referees opened the Footballers’ Banquet, where everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet. During Half Time, a game of table football ‘with a difference’ got underway, with each member of staff taking shots at a net with a miniature football player!

The day’s activities drew to a close with a Penalty Shootout, whereby everyone at Fingershield was given the opportunity to score penalties against General Manager, Paul O’Carroll. Few people scored passed Paul - we knew it was a mistake putting a 6ft 4 man in a 4ft wide goal!

The day proved to be a great success, raising lots of money for the Christie Hospital NHS Trust.

A great day had by all!
