Founded in 1999 to sell child door safety products, Fingershield (UK) Ltd is now Cardea Solutions. The rebrand follows the recent management buyout by managing director Paul O’Carroll and an expansion into new safety product areas.
Today Cardea Solutions launched Secure-Ring, the only security door chain in the world to be endorsed by the UK Association of Chief Police Officers. Developed by Northern Ireland inventor Robert Service, Secure-Ring has passed the Association’s rigorous Secured by Design (SBD) standard.
Cardea Solutions Managing Director Paul O’Carroll said: “We are delighted to have won exclusive UK rights to Secure-Ring, which fits perfectly with our company ethos of going to market with socially responsible products that solve everyday security issues. We already have strong demand for it from local authorities, housing associations and police forces throughout the UK. Our ultimate aim is sell it through major DIY outlets such a B&Q.”
Designed to be fitted on domestic front doors, and easily fitted in minutes, Secure-Ring goes on show today (retail price £19.99) at Manchester Security 2011, to delegates from North West local authorities and police forces at the city’s Bridgewater Hall.
Secure-Ring has passed the SDB ‘wrecking ball’ test, which subjects security devices to the repeated force of a 30kg steel ball – nearly twice the weight of a police battering ram. It incorporates a steel door restrictor, chain and a ring that slips over the door handle.
The Secure-Ring security door chain, priced £19.99, is now available to purchase in the
Fingershield online shop.
