16.10.08 The OUCH Report has landed

According to latest figures from RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) 28,000 children under the age of 15 visit A&E units in the UK every year with injuries to their fingers and thumbs from doors and door frames. 18,500 of these are in the home and 48% happen to under 5s.

The Ouch! Report will kick off a year long campaign of activity to raise awareness of the issue among parents. It will include a detailed look at how finger-trapping accidents happen, and how they can be avoided, how to assess the risk in your own home, emergency tips for if the worse should happen, insight into how a child’s fingers develop from 0-5, a range of case studies with pictures, plus a few celebrity experiences of finger-trapping.

CAPT will also be distributing 40,000 educational leaflets into health professionals across the country in support of the awareness campaign.

The Ouch! Report is now live on the Simple Safety Solutions website and is available to at www.simplesafetysolutions.com/ouchreport
